Book Review~ Beautiful Goodbye by H. D'Agostino

Book review for Beautiful Goodbye from H. D'Agostino

I reviewed an advanced readers copy of Beautiful Goodbye in exchange for my honest review.

In this contemporary stand alone story we get to meet Ryan and Rachel. These two characters have delate with a lot of terrible goodbyes in their lives, and so they are damaged. They are reluctant to let others in because they fear that anyone who gets to close will leave again. They need to figure out how they can let love in to their lives, even if in the end they might lose that love.

Rachel lost her mother as a child, and then when she was 18 she lost her dad. The only thing left is the auto repair shop her father owned. She has been running it, but knows that the time is coming where she can no longer keep the doors open. One night her best friend attempts to take her out to the local bar in order to have some fun for a minute, where she gets a beer dumped on her.

As if that night can't get any better a few nights later she gets a late night call to tow a car in the pouring rain. That night she runs into the guy from the bar who spilled his beer on her. These two are so funny because they should be focused on the disasters that are their lives, and not on finding someone, but love doesn't have a time line.
Ryan is a male nurse, a murse, from the local hospital who works on the ped's unit. Ryan has a sad past as well. Not only is he a diabetic who has to constantly check his blood sugars but her is responsible for his younger brothers death. He is open and honest with Rachel, but only to a point. These two are such a hot mess that you want so desperately for them to get a HEA, when it seems like they have been dealing with so much shit all their lives.
I loved the writing, and definitely felt  a connection with the characters. It was funny, and sad, and a whole other bunch of emotions while reading this story.
Great, quick, emotional read.
4 1/2 stars!
