Book Review~ All of the Lights by K. Ryan
I received an advanced readers copy of this story from the author in exchange for my honest review.
I was caught off guard by this book. It is my first K. Ryan novel, but will not be my last.
The author draws you into the story, with the chemistry and the characters. It is a modern day Romeo and Juliet type story, set in Boston. This is a stand alone novel, but is definitely meant for 18+. What I loved most about the story is that no one is whom you think. We are set in Boston with Irish Southie, and Rich Snobby Side.
Our main female character, Rae is faced with a terrible past that has wounded her both physically as well as mentally. She wants nothing to do with going out to a fight club in Southie to rescue her silly step sister who is attempting to get in for her birthday. However her BFF Benn (yep Benn with two 'N's and he's gay honey, its short for Bennett", can get her in because his cousin's the bartender. While waiting off to the side of the crowd, a hot guy (Jack) steps out of the building to have a vape. They pick up a conversation, before the bullets fly. Up I said Bullets! Seriously a drive by shooting while they are flirting and have a interesting time. Thank God know one gets hurt but this is just the start of an explosive situation.
Two people who come together in an attempt for Rae to right a wrong against Jack's brother Sean, leads them down a rabbit hole of craziness that will have you holding on to the seat of your pants. Not only is this story an amazing thrilling ride, but it is an emotional one too!
I actuall wrote K. Ryan after finishing and said "Wow, just Wow! I'm unable to form a coherent thought!" It was a very emotional ride.
4.5 stars!!! Can't wait to read what's next!
