I received a ARC of Dark Edges in exchange for my fair and honest review.
First let me say that right from the start I got the impression this book would be a little different. We have our tough guy Chase Black who owns Dark Edge PI. He comes acrossed as a tough guy, manly man, who has few friends and probably more enemies. One night he gets an email from a women who thinks her husband is cheating on her after only 2 months of marriage. He is struck by how 'cute' she sounds. Then he thinks "WTF?!" Against his better judgement he decides to take the case, before taking a nameless blond out of the bar into the parking lot for a quick release. While he's getting a blow job a women walks up and witness the scene, which just makes Chase that much harder. Its not until a while later when he is researching his new client that he realizes that she's the women from the parking lot watching him get a blow job!
How can anything work once that happens? But right from the start Chase is intrigued, turned on, and fascinated by this women Naomi. I would classify this story more as a romantic suspense, because there are so many dark twist that are happening mostly in the background that make you wonder whats really going on. In the for front of the story you have a man and a women who probably shouldn't be together realize they the other person is exactly what they need and want. There are sex scenes that touch on BDSM or D/s but not a huge part of the story, just enough to increase the heat factor.
I really enjoyed this story, and I'm interested to learn more about Chase and Naomi, so I hope there are more books to this series. I loved the writing and the character development was spot on. This new author is definitely one to follow!
